MINI BOURBON PECAN PIE FAVORS
Favors are one of my favorite parts of hosting a party. I view it as an opportunity to send your guests home with something more than just a "thank you."
Wedding favors have been a tradition for a very long time and it was common among the Europeans to give little trinket boxes called bonbonniere's which contained sugar or small treats!
At our wedding, James and I had 2 macaroons in a little bag with a tag that said “Love is sweet, Have some treats.” Favors that your guests can eat are always popular.
So, what can you give as a favor?
Favors can be anything from chocolates with your face on them to different scented soaps. From succulents to magnets! Candles to cookies. Anything you can imagine. You also don't need to wait until your wedding day to give out favors. I personally try to add favors to every party I host, including small dinner parties!
Today I want to walk you through these delicious mini bourbon pecan pies you can send home with your guests this fall/winter!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Ingredients: (makes 6 small pies)
- 1 Egg
- 1/4 cup Corn Syrup
- 1/4 cup Light Brown Sugar
- pinch Salt
- 1tsp Vanilla
- 1/2 cup Pecans
- Pie Crust (you can also buy foil mini pie crusts)
- 4 TBS Butter
- 1.5 ounce Bourbon
First step is to melt your butter over medium low heat.
Once it's melted, add your brown sugar and bourbon. Mix until the brown sugar is dissolved.
For the pie crusts, I took one sheet of pie crust and used a mason jar to make circles. Ideally you should use foil pie tins, but I couldn't find them at my local grocery store. I used a muffin pan for mine. They were a little on the smaller side, but still delicious.
Next, beat one egg in a separate bowl and temper it so it doesn't cook in your sauce. Slowly add a little more sauce to the egg and then finally mix it all together.
Now it's time to fill your pie crusts with chopped pecans. You might have some left over depending on the size of your pie tins.
Once your pie crusts are filled with pecans, pour an even amount of your brown sugar bourbon sauce on top of each pie. Fill it so it's about 2/3 full.
Bake them in the oven for 25 - 30 minutes or until set and let them cool for about 5 minutes before you serve!
#LetsBeReal - Showing you this is real life because I planned on making 6...buuuuut 4 turned out really good, 1 not so much, and 1 was stuck in the pan.
